Ethan began training in traditional martial arts under his father before moving into kickboxing as a teenager and later Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while at university. This progression naturally led him to MMA, where he has cornered multiple bouts and coached athletes in competition settings. He is also a Registered Nurse and father of two, bringing a strong emphasis on safety, structure, and professionalism into his coaching.

Ethan takes an ecological, athlete-centred approach, blending his experience in medical education with martial arts instruction. He emphasises clear progression, problem-solving, and light, technical sparring to develop confident, well-rounded martial artists. He also runs his own martial arts apparel brand, Pick Your Poison, which sponsors local BJJ athletes.
